Married Millie Frances Langley October 13, 1911 at Madison County, Arkansas. His age on marriage certificate was given as 51, hers 25. The couple along with their 6 year old daughter Opal Carmon appeared in the 1920 census for Nashville, TN. When Ed R. Carmon died in Nashville the following year in 1921, his age on death certificate was given as 81. This does not coincide with his age being 51 ten years earlier at his marriage. Perhaps the clerk filling out the death certificate meant 61 but accidentally wrote 81; it is a handwritten document so the discrepancy is not due to a mistaken key strike on a typewriter. Or perhaps the clerk filling out the marriage certificate in Arkansas made a mistake and wrote 51 instead of 71. It's difficult to imagine a 25 year old woman marrying a 71 year old man--but stranger things have happened.

Note: In the 1920 census for Nashville, Davidson Co., TN. Ed and Millie Carmon's young daughter, Opal A. Carmon, was mistakenly listed as a son rather than a daughter.
