S-SGT. PETER GOSTOVICH
Peter Gostovich, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Gostovich, 102 Sixth street southeast, was ambushed and killed March 22, 1945, while leading a patrol behind the Japanese lines at San Mates, Luzon, Philippines. He entered the service June 18, 1941, and was a member of Co. B, 63rd Infantry, 6th Division. He received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered Feb. 28, 1945 while rescuing a wounded officer lying in front of a Jap pillbox under heavy enemy machine gun fire. He also received the Bronze Star.
