U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II


George W. Eisenbrown Sr., 86, a lifelong resident of New Sewickley Township, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Heritage Valley, Beaver.


He was born September 10, 1927 in New Sewickley Township, son of the late Herbert and Mildred (Morford) Eisenbrown. George proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Claiborne and the USS Laurentia. He was a recipient of the Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal.


George retired from the Ambridge Works of ARMCO following thirty-three and a half years of service. He also retired from the New Sewickley Township Police Department after serving from 1954 until 1968. He was a member of American Legion Post 512 and Past Commander for the years of 1959 to 1961. George was a faithful member of the New Sewickley Presbyterian Church.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Bradshaw) Eisenbrown; a granddaughter, Kristie Eisenbrown (daughter of George and Pat Eisenbrown, Jr.); four brothers, Kenneth, Herbert, Harold and Clayton Eisenbrown, and two sisters, Ruby Durr and Thelma Barry.


George is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, George (Patricia) Eisenbrown, Jr., Brighton Township; one daughter and son-in-law, Darla (William) Roberts, Cranberry Township; four grandchildren, Michele Eisenbrown and companion Trel, Ft. Wayne, IN; Kevin Eisenbrown and fiancée Evy, Harmony Township; Jeff (Candy) Lizzi, New Sewickley Township, and Jennifer Mitchell, Sarasota, FL; eight great-grandchildren, Meleke (son of the late Kristie Eisenbrown); LaMonte, Lanyah and Kaliyah (children of Michele and Trel); Alexandra, Lauren and Jordan (children of Jeff and Candy), and Jacob (son of Jennifer); one sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Ralph Bonzo, Chippewa Township, and many caring friends and neighbors.


Special thanks to Becky Murphy who tirelessly assisted Mr. Eisenbrown in many acts of kindness; and thanks to the staff at Shop 'N Save for helping him with shopping.


Friends will be received Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Additional visitation in the funeral home will be on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.


Military honors will be presented by the Beaver County Special Unit at 11 a.m. with his funeral service to follow, with the Rev. Tom Clyde officiating. Private entombment will follow in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
