Services Set for Chaffins
Ballard (RNS) - Gus E. Chaffins, 64, died Tuesday morning in a Cleveland, Ohio, nursing home after a long illness.
Born at Wayne County, Oct. 21, 1911, he was a son of the late Stanley and Polly Vanhoose Chaffins.
He had lived in Ballard 22 years and had lived in Cleveland the past five months.
He was a retired coal miner, having been employed by the Jones and Leffman Coal Co. at McDowell County and was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church at Ballard.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Baker Chaffins; two daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Polly of Cleveland, Ohio, and one daughter of Alexandria, Va.; one son, A.E. Chaffins of Manassas, Va., and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Broyles Funeral Home in Peterstown with Rev. C. L. Crews in charge. Entombment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum at Princeton.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Bradley, Bill Polly, Gary Polly, Gene Nicholson, Tim Slavey and Jimmy Broyles.
