US Congressman. A native of Leechburg, Pennsylvania, he served in the Union Army during the Civil War as Captain and commander of Company C, 9th Pennsylvania Reserves. Mustered in on May 1, 1861, he was captured by Confederate forces and imprisoned at the infamous Libby Prison in Richmond, Virginia. Paroled, he was honorably mustered out on October 12, 1862. He was elected as a Republican to represent Pennsylvania's 27th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving a single term from 1907 to 1909.
