U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Washington College, in 1827, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1829 and commenced to practice law in Somerset, Pennsylvania. In 1847, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirtieth and Thirty-first Congresses, serving until 1851. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he served as president judge of the Allegheny County District Court, (1853-73). He died in retirement at age 74.
