Colby Mace Farnan was killed in Iraq on February 25, 2005. A visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at Vaughn Funeral Home, Weston, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Weston. Burial with Military Honors in Graceland Cemetery, Weston, MO.

Colby was born on June 11, 1982, at Fort Leavenworth, KS. Colby attended West Platte Schools all of his life and graduated in 2000. He participated in baseball and basketball at West Platte High School. He also umpired for Little League ball. Colby served with the 3rd Infantry Division, 1st Armored Brigade out of Fort Riley, KS.

He attained the rank of Specialist and was an expert marksman. Colby was sent to Iraq on February 2, 2005. He will be awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star posthumously. He was preceded in death by an uncle, Bruce Bartholomew, his maternal great-grandparents Chris and Cordella Emmett, and grandfather Joe Farnan.

He is survived by his parents Patrick and Deann Farnan, Weston; sister Kristen Farnan, of the home; grandmother Christina Bartholomew, Philadelphia, MS; grandparents Brian and Jean Bartholomew, and grandmother Emerita Farnan, Weston. Colby is also survived by a large and loving family and will be sorely missed.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colby Farnan Memorial Fund at the Bank of Weston, PO Box 8, Weston, MO, 64098.
