Ft. Stewart - Staff Sgt. Curtis Anthony "Tony" Mitchell, 28, died Monday, December 12, 2005 when a I.E.D. exploded near his tank in Baghbad. He was born January 11, 1977 in Columbus, OH., to Regina and Edward Mitchell. Tony grew up and was educated near McConnelsville, OH., where he was a graduate of Morgan County High School, Class of 1995. After High School he enlisted with the U.S. Army and was Transferred to Ft. Stewart in 2000. He was with Charlie Troop 2nd Platoon 37 Cav. 2nd Brigade. Survivors include his wife, Frankie Mitchell of Ft. Stewart; son, Curtis Mitchell, Jr. of Ohio; stepsons, Eric Taylor of Ft. Stewart, Sean Byrd of Ft. Stewart and Alexander Byrd of Texas; stepdaughter, Keauna Byrd of CA; brothers, Charlie, Edward "Jimmy", Wayne and William "B.J." Mitchell; sisters, Angie, Betsey and Regina "Sissy" Mitchell; grandfather, Buddy Cunningham all of Ohio, numerous nieces and nephews.
