Ellen Cornelia Whatley Sadler, 87. passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 from complications of Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Ellen was born in Tuskegee, Alabama, February 1, 1927, graduated from Auburn University, married, moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina and then moved to Montgomery in 1964, She worked or the State of Alabama Department of Agriculture General Service Division for 22 years, until retiring in 1994.

She was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church.

Ellen was predeceased by her husband Wallace McGehee Sadler, Sr., in 1964; her son, Charles Douglas Sadler, 2013 and her grandson, Jacob Edward Sadler, in 2011.

She is survived by her sons, Wallace McGehee Sadler, Jr., Michael Lewis Sadler (Becky); daughters, Claire Sadler Galmish, Rebecca Leigh Sadler and Carolyn Marie Sadler. Ellen has four surviving grandchildren, Wallace McGehee III (Amy), Joshua Michael Sadler, Ellen Galmish Abt (Harrison) and Montana Leigh Sadler. She has three great-granddaughters, Avery Sadler, Aubrey Sadler and Syndey Sadler. She has two surviving sisters-in-law, Lois Whatley and Barbara Whatley; nieces, nephews and cousins. Ellen's parents, Minnie Hughes and Lewis Edgar Whatley and four brothers, Edgar, Charles, Douglas and Leroy and one sister-in-law, Patsy, are all deceased.
Ellen was widowed at 37 and spent her life raising her six children. She was a gentle soul, with a kind spirit and a heart of gold. Also known as "Mamaw", she was a great friend and confidant to many people throughout her life. Ellen was dearly cherished and loved God, family and friends.

Funeral services are Thursday, April 24, 2014 t 10:00 a.m. at Leak-Memory Chapel followed by burial at Montgomery Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Wallace Sadler, Joshua Sadler, David Sadler, Paul Sadler, Shane Whatley and Harrison Abt. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Whately and Glenn Yost.

Arrangements are under the direction of Leak-Memory Chapel, Montgomery, Alabama.
