Lou Lester

Lou Craigmyle Lester, 75, of Lawrenceburg, died Monday, April 21, 2014, at Shady Nook Nursing Facility in Lawrenceburg.

She was born June 30, 1938, in Carrollton, Ky., to Hubert L. and Ruth Tharp Craigmyle. She was raised in Carrollton, Ky., until her sophomore year in high school when they moved to a farm outside of Mount Sterling. She was a 1956 graduate of Vevay High School. She was employed as a secretary for Draper Plumbing & Heating in Aurora from 1957 to 1960. On Jan. 1, 1962, she and her husband started the Tri-State Tire Company in Lawrenceburg, which they owned and operated together for 37 years. She served the company as secretary for 34 years. She and her husband retired from Tri-State Tire Company in 1998. She was a member of the Hamline Chapel United Methodist Church in Lawrenceburg since 1963. She was a Sunday school teacher for 19 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and served on various other committees within the church. She was an active member of the Lawrenceburg Tri Kappa Sorority Pi Chapter for 34 years. She enjoyed annual family vacations with their children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, attending her grandchildren's activities, gardening, church functions, sewing, cooking and taking care of flowers.

She is survived by her husband, Junior Lester, whom she married March 16, 1956; one son, Gary Lee Lester of Grove City, Ohio; two daughters, Cynthia June Lester of Kokomo and Pamela Jane Lester Peters of West Chester, Ohio; two sisters, Lois Craigmyle of Lexington, Ky. and Judith Treat of Cleveland, Ohio; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial will be in Vevay Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hamline Chapel United Methodist Church Door Fund or Boy Scout Troop 604. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.
