Army Sgt. Dominic R. Coles, 25, of Jesup, Georgia

Coles died in Baghdad, Iraq, on December 26, 2005 when his HMMWV came under attack during combat operations by enemy forces using small arms fire, rocket-propelled grenades and mortars.
He was assigned to the 5th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Sergeant Dominic R. Coles, 25, of Jesup died Dec. 26 in Iraq from injuries received in combat. A native of Wayne County and a 1998 graduate of Wayne County High School, he was on his second tour of duty in Iraq with the U.S. Army Fifth Engineer Battalion, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Survivors are his wife, Toni T. Coles of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; two daughters, Alicia D. Fowler and Ashley Fowler, both of Fort Leonard Wood; one son, Daryl James of Fort Leonard Wood; his father, William Coles Jr. of Savannah; one sister, Monique Coles of Brunswick; one brother, Dennis Taylor Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., and a host of other relatives.
