Kathleen was an opera singer and voice teacher. She was the model for Julia Ray in the bestselling "Betsy-Tacy" series of books by her younger sister, Maud Hart Lovelace. See also Frances Kenney Kirch ("Tacy") and Marjorie Gerlach Harris ("Tib").

She was the eldest daughter of Thomas Walden Hart and Stella M. Palmer Hart.

Married, first, Eugene Sharp Bibb, 3 Dec 1913 at Trinity Baptist Church, Minneapolis, MN (divorced). At the time of their marriage, he was an attorney who also played the violin professionally. He later made his career in the Army. After 1950, he moved to Baltimore, where he became a writer, speaker and lecturer for far-right causes. He died in Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, in August, 1971.

Eugene was later married to June Ashby and had one son, Claude Ashby Bibb, by her; their marriage also ended in divorce.

Children:
1. Eugene Sharp Bibb, Jr., b. and d. 29 May 1920.
2. Eugene Frohman Foster (born Eugene Bibb, but who took the surname Foster in honor of his stepfather, who adopted and raised him), b. 7 Aug 1922, d. 5 Sep 1972; m. first, Anita Ruth Haines, m. second, Brent Shaw; five children. Eugene became the head flutist of the Salt Lake City orchestra.

Married, second, Frohman Murphy Foster, 7 Apr 1927 in Los Angeles, CA. He was born 12 Sep 1893 in Anderson, Indiana, and died in May 1984.

Child:
1. Stillborn daughter, b. and d. 30 Sep 1932.

Frohman was a flutist, and was the model for Paige in the last two Betsy-Tacy books. ("Like Julia, he came from the Middle West, from Indiana, where he had attended the University before studying the flute in the East ... He was ... a very attractive young man -- tall, light-haired, and ethereal-looking.") He and Kathleen lived first in Minneapolis, then Los Angeles, and finally settled in Salt Lake City, Utah.
