Ruth VanDuker Tersinar, 95, of Girard, formerly of rural Farlington, died at 10:40 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in the West Ridge Retirement Community in Girard where she lived since February 2013.
She was born February 12, 1919 in Camp 50, a daughter of John and Margaret Archibald VanDuker.
Ruth married August Tersinar on March 19, 1938 in Lamar, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1997.
Ruth and August made their home at rural Farlington where Ruth was a homemaker. She was also a med-aide at the Heritage Nursing Home in Girard for over 15 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Farlington, the Farlington Church Ladies Aide, and the Sunflower Quilt Group.
Survivors are sons Kenneth (Mary Alice) Tersinar of Girard and Robert (Sonja) Tersinar of rural Walnut; daughters Margaret (Steve) Hoyle of Farlington and Patsy (Sheldon) DeLange of rural Girard; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her brothers John VanDuker, Walter VanDuker, and Arthur VanDuker; her sisters Elizabeth Montgomery and Grace Sterle.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday at the United Methodist Church in Farlington with Rev. Steve Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Farlington Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Farlington and these may be left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
