KOONCE, Jerry Lloyd 71, of Seminole, died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at home. He spent three years in the Army before settling into a career with the Navy. He retired as a Chief Hospital Corpsman in 1980 after 22 years of military service. He served with honor in Vietnam serving as "Doc" with the Marine Corps. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for state health departments in Iowa, Kansas and Tennessee before officially retiring in Florida in 2002. Jerry is survived by his wife, Charlene; two grown children, Marlana (Eric) Schnell and Clayton Koonce; four grand-daughters and three siblings, Rexford (Rebecca) Koonce, Judy (Edward) Hines, and John Koonce. Jerry has been cremated and his remains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. A celebration of life will be held in Knoxville, IA from 1-5 pm, Sunday, May 11. Reese FH
