Toy Talmadge Caldwell, Sr., 84, of Roebuck, SC, died Monday, January 9, 2006, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.

Born July 13, 1921, in the Westview community of Spartanburg, son of Toy Thomas Caldwell (1899–1932) and Lenora Poteat Caldwell (1899–1996); husband of Virginia Vaughn Caldwell (1928–1992).

A retired plumbing contractor, a member of the S.C. Arabian Horse Association and the Spartanburg Horse Association, a Baptist by faith, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of World War II, and a charter member of the Hutchings-Caldwell Detachment of the U.S. Marine Corps League.

Survivors include a sister,Iris Colleen Caldwell (1925–2017); brother, Stanley Thomas Caldwell (1928–2006); two granddaughters; and a great-grandson.

Also predeceased by sons, Toy Talmadge Caldwell, Jr. (1947–1993), Thomas Michael "Tommy" Caldwell (1949–1980), and Timothy Lee Caldwell (1955–1980); brother, Mason W. Caldwell; and a sister, Frances Caldwell Lanford (1923–2003).

Graveside services with military honors were held Thursday, January 12, 2006, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Phillip Duke.

The family received friends following the service at the graveside.

Memorials could be made to the Marine Corps League, Hutchings-Caldwells Detachment 1134, Spartanburg, SC.
