MACHESNEY PARK - Bernice M. Burton, 86, 1117 Evans Ave., died Monday, Nov. 23, in Swedish American Hospital. Born Dec. 21, 1905 in Rockford, daughter of Otto and Selma Pearson Anderson. Lived entire life in Rockford. Married Louis Steen in Rockford; he died in 1934. Then married Dale Burton in Rockford, in 1958; he died in 1982. Formerly employed by Amerock, National Lock. Owner and operator of Busy Bee Restaurant, W. State Street, during the 1950's; retired in 1960 after 50 years.

Survivors include one son, Richard (Tonie) Steen, Conroe, Texas; two daughters, Betty (Jim) Peterson, Rockford, and Diane (Gerald) Hall, Machesney Park; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren. Also predeceased by her parents; daughter, Patricia Abruzzo; son-in-law, Ben Abruzzo; one sister and three brothers.

Services at noon Friday, Nov. 27 in Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 3910 N. Rockton Ave., with the Rev. William Wentink officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 11 a.m. to services Friday. Memorials to family.

NOTE: Daughter Diane R. Hall born Nov. 1, 1934 died May 7, 2007 shows no burial data in her obituary of May 10, 2007 Rockford Register Star. She was a Jehovah Witness.
