RICHARD 'DICK' L. STEEN, 81 ROCKFORD - Richard "Dick" L. Steen, 81, formerly of Rockford, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, in Plantation Health Care Center in Lake Jackson, Texas. Born Nov. 25, 1925, in Rockford, the son of Louis and Bernice (Anderson) Steen. Dick served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Baltimore as a machinist mate from March 24, 1944, to May 31, 1946. He married Antoinette Madison on June 3, 1950; she died on Dec. 26, 1998. He worked as a real estate broker and was owner and operator of Dick Steen Realtor for more than 20 years in Conroe, Texas.
Dick is survived by daughters, Valerie and husband, Allen Matejek of Lake Jackson, Kim and husband, Dr. Raymond Johnson Jr. of Conroe and Dr. Cynthia and husband, Russell Day of Boston; grandsons, Craig Laudicina of Rockford and Kurt Laudicina of Billings, Mont.; granddaughters, Amber Jones of Conroe and Dawn Larson of Buda, Texas; stepgranddaughter, Mandy and husband, Kevin Hutchins of Willis, Texas; stepgrandsons, Aiden and Quentin Matejek of Lake Jackson, Texas, Craig and wife, Janna Johnson of Kingsland, Texas, Matt and wife, Michelle Johnson of Conroe; eight step-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty and husband, Jim Peterson of Rockford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by son, Anthony; and sisters, Pat Abruzzo and Diane Hall.
Service at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., with visitation from 9 to 9:45 a.m.; Father William Wentink will officiate. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park.
