Kenneth G. "Bud" Kramer, 88, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at St. Francis Health Center.
He was born in Williamstown, Kansas on January 25, 1920 the son of Nicholas and Gertrude Mayfield Kramer.
Kenneth graduated from Perry High School in 1937. He served in the Army/Air Corps four years during WW II and spent fourteen months at Iwo Jima.
He was married to Dorothy J. Brooke at Assumption Church on February 16, 1946. She survives.
Other survivors include one son Nicholas Kramer and his wife Belinda & 2 grandchildren, Brooke and Jack Kramer all of Topeka.
Kenneth was preceded in death by a brother Clayton and a sister Imogene.
Kenneth was a coach carpenter for the AT & SF Railroad for forty-one years before he retired. He helped organize and coach the youth baseball team in Grantville. Kenneth played on softball and bowling teams with his Santa Fe co-workers and was an avid fisherman. Kenneth was a member of Mater Dei Catholic Parish, Perry Post # 142 of the American Legion and the XYZ Club, Grantville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Mater Deis Assumption Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by Perry Post # 142 of The American Legion. Mr. Kramer will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. A parish rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m.
