Doc was a graduate of Farnam High School. He joined the Nebraska State Patrol and was stationed in Norfolk, McCook, North Platte and Columbus and then came to Fremont in 1942 for a total of eight years. Then started his own interior decorating business, retiring in 1987.

Doc married Madolene Hudson on May 5, 1935 in Gothenburg. She died April 25, 2006. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Fremont, Pathfinder Wood Carvers and the National Wood Carvers Association. He was a lifetime member of the Painting and Decorating Contractors Association. He was an avid golfer and former member of the Izaak Walton League.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Anna (Tatum) Edson, two brothers, Earl and George Edson; three sisters, Grace, Dorothy, and Ruby; and a grandchild Vicki Anspach. (Courtesy of Moser Memorial Chapel.)
