Martha then taught private school in Carmel, New York for three years, then transferred to Needham, Massachusetts, where she taught high school and took extra work in Boston University.
In 1928 she went to Cortland, New York, where she taught in a teachers college. While teaching in Cortland, she took a semester's leave of absence and traveled to Italy, Africa, Greece, and England, where she attended summer school at Cambridge, and also some time at Oxford University.
In 1929 she and her sister Mabel took another European trip, visiting the Scandinavian countries and returning to the USA just before the war broke out.
Martha taught school until 1944, when she came to Seattle. In 1949 she married Roy Myers, a retired naval officer. From Seattle they moved to Woodenville, then built a home in Puyallup, where they resided at the time of this writing (May 1966).
