Corene Faye Chirch, 83, of Pana, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 in Heritage Health—Pana. She was born June 21, 1930 in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of Edward Thomas & Anna Elizabeth Donnica Jophlin.
She had lived in Indiana and Illinois, and had been in Pana since 1957. In her younger years, she had worked as a waitress and retired as an office clerk from the State of Illinois Department of Revenue. She was a member of the Pana Eagles and past member of the Pana Ladies of the Moose.
Corene married Billy Eugene Chirch and he preceded her in death on September 7, 1981.
She is survived by her life partner of 31 ½ years: Jim Emerick, Pana, IL; children: Judith Anne Chirch, Apache Junction, AZ; Edna Farrow, Rocky Mount, NC; Clyde Eugene Chirch, Pleasant Hill, IA; 10 grandchildren: Tonya Roberts, Thomas Fisher, Twyla Faye Bass, Tasha McKern, Scott Barnett, Shawn Barnett, Mindi Lane, Adrienne Barker, Aaron Chirch, Jeremy Chirch; 24 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister Letha Stevens, Indianapolis, IN; and special friends: Tonya & Allen Smith, Pana, IL.
Besides her parents and husband, Corene was preceded in death by 15 siblings.
Visitation will be Friday 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with Eagles service at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 24, 2014 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Stephen Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana.
