Son of Ralph & Mercy Penquite Smith. Aaron was the brother of William Smith.
According to family lore Aaron died of wounds received at the Battle of Cowpens.
He was married to Sarah Langston

Aaron Smith, the third son of Ralph Smith, Sr., moved in 1765 with his family to the Ninety Six District of South Carolina. He served in the Spartan Militia Regiment under Colonel Roebuck and was with his brother, Samuel, in the battle at Cowpens. Aaron was mortally wounded and his brother assisted in carrying him east of the Broad River, where he died.

Aaron Smith did died from his wounds at the Battle of Cowpens. He also fought in that battle with his brother, Zopher Smith, who is not mentioned in his bio. Just thought you would like to know that 3 brothers found in the battle of Cowpens. Zopher Smith was wounded in the battle, but did not died of his injuries. Zopher is my husband g-g-g grandfather. Aaron would be his g-g-g uncle. The Smith family gave their all.
