Princess of Hungary; Queen Consort of Bohemia. She was born as the daughter of Bela III of Hungary and his second wife Agnes of Antioch. In 1198 she married the 25 years older Ottokar I Přemysl. The king had recently repudiated his first wife Adelheid von Meissen and sought the annulment of the marriage on grounds of consanguinity. Adelheid objected and wrote the Pope and the Staufer famliy for help but had to leave Bohemia with her children. Constance meanwhile bore four children, including the heir Vratislav. In 1205 Ottokar was politically weakened and Vratislavs died. He was forced to send her away and Adelheid returned to the court with her children. After the birth of second son and a message from Rome that confirmed the annulment, she was able to return and Adelheid left Bohemia for Meißen. After the kings death she focused her attention on her dowry Moravia. In 1231 she founded the cistercian convent of Porta Coeli where she spent her last years.
