Folks who ride the Pratt-Ensley streetcar regularly were saddened today because a veteran conductor has reached the end of the line. The friendly smile and cheery morning greeting of conductor James R. Parsons was stilled yesterday when Mr. Parsons died at his Springdale home after a heart attack.

Mr. Parsons began his career as a streetcar conductor in 1910 on the old Gate City line. However, he had spent the majority of the following 38 years on the Pratt-Ensley line.
He knew many of the regular riders and most of them considered him a personal friend.

Mr. Parsons was a native of Cartersville, Georgia. He was 59 years old.

Surviving are two daughters, Edna Acton, Birmingham, Alabama, and Lois Raybon, Donalson, Georgia; four sisters, Lois Stuman, Birmingham, Eva Woodall, Etowah, Tennessee, Vera Arrington, Chicago, Illinois, and Evelyn Sparks, Copper Hill, Tennessee; three brothers, Theodore Parsons, Tupelo, Mississippi, Richard Parsons and Alvin Parsons, both of Atlanta, Georgia; two grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A service was held today at 3pm at Springdale Baptist Church with Rev. J. Floyd Goree and Rev. J.L. Aders officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery, Brown Service in charge.
