Louis N. "Joe" Gerencir, 80, of Clay and Bomont, formerly of Charleston, entered into rest with the Lord on Friday, June 6, 2014, following a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Rosa Gerencir; son, Gregory Gerencir; brothers, Billy Gerencir, Tom Gerencir and John Gerencir; and sisters, Faye Daneker, Mary Higginbotham and Julia Lewis.

Joe worked at West Virginia Truck Sales, worked on the oil pipeline in Prudoe Bay, Alaska and retired from Vandalia Coal Company.

Joe loved the outdoors, working on the farm, hunting, flyfishing and spending time with his family and loyal dog, Jake.

He is survived by the love of his life, Norma "Missey" Wallace; son, Jeff Gerencir and wife, Kris of Charleston; son, Bill Gerencir of Winfield; daughter, Laurie Casey and husband, Jerry of Kenna; brother, Jim Gerencir and wife, Kay of Poca; sister, Polly Cook of Virginia; sister, Anne Paulin of Charleston; sister, Margaret Boggess of Sissonville; and several grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 9 at Matics Funeral Home in Clendenin with the Rev. Father James Kurtz presiding. Burial will be in the White Cemetery Bomont, WV. Visitation will be two hours prior. Online condolences may be expressed at maticsfuneralhome.com.
