Forrest was the son of Charles Christian Humber & Mary Isabelle Hurt Humber. He married Dorothy Duncan and the couple were the parents of Joe Bush Humber. Their family lived in Danville, Kentucky. Mr. Humber earned his living by working as a teamster and as a gasoline salesman.

After his death, his widow married Floyd Hicks, a native of Tennessee. Dorothy Duncan Humber Hicks raised her son, Joe Bush Humber, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
