Brokers Tip
Birth: 1930
Lexington
Fayette County
Kentucky, USA
Death: Jul. 14, 1953
California, USA

Thoroughbred racehorse best known as the winner of the 1933 Kentucky Derby. Brokers Tip won by a nose from Head Play in what became famous as the "Fighting Finish" when their jockeys repeatedly punched and whipped one another as they raced neck-to-neck down the homestretch. He was bred by Col. Edward R. Bradley at his Idle Hour Stock Farm near Lexington, Kentucky and was race conditioned by U.S. Hall of Fame trainer, Herbert Thompson who earned his record setting fourth Derby win. Through 2014, Brokers Tip remains the only racehorse in history whose sole career win came in the Kentucky Derby. (bio by: Maureen K)
