Mr. Earnest J. Kelley, 97, of Graysville died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003 at his residence.
He was the eldest son of Walter and Alma Kelley and attended public school in the Harmony Community of Covington County before making his home in Birmingham.
Funeral services were held Jan. 7, 2003 with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The City of Graysville lowered the flag to half-staff one day in Mr. Kelley's honor. He was the last living member of Graysville's first City Council.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ernestine Watts of Graysville; two sons, Mr. Harvey A. Kelley (Jean) of Andalusia; Mr. James B. Kelley (Dot) of Hoover; sisters, Mrs. Euna K. Faulkner of Andalusia, Mrs. Francis Hall of Ft. Walton, Fla.; brother, Charles Kelley of Ft. Walton; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
