MASON CITY: James Eugene Greiner, 78, died Wednesday (Oct. 13, 2004) at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City, where he had resided for the past three years.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Hillmore Williams officiating. Burial will be at Woodbury Cemetery, rural Lyle, Minn.

Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar.

James was born Aug. 3, 1926, to Perle and Cora (Copeland) Greiner at Carpenter, Iowa. He grew up the youngest of 14 children, attended Carpenter Consolidated School, and cared for his parents much of his life.

He worked for Northwestern Portland Cement in Mason City for 30-plus years, and when not working he enjoyed his flowers and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and six sisters.

James is survived by two sisters, Faye Severson of Austin, Minn.; and Louise (Earl) Kirchgatter of St. Ansgar; plus many nieces and nephews.
