Evelyn Yancey 1911 ~ 2008 Evelyn Yancey died October 19, 2008 at the age of 97 in Bountiful, Utah after a short illness. She was born in Groveland, Idaho on August 10, 1911, the second child of a family of eight children born to James Henry Yancey and Effie Jane Cobbley. She attended school in Blackfoot, Idaho, and then assisted Paul and Alice DeMordaunt for 25 years, helping to raise their two sons, Roger and James. They became her family in every sense of the word. Roger and James DeMordaunt and their families were always gracious and kind to Evelyn. She then went to school and received her Practical Nursing License and worked in the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho for 15 years. In 1956 Evelyn, along with her parents, was called to serve a labor mission to New Zealand where they labored in different capacities to help build the New Zealand LDS Temple. This service was a highlight in her life. In 2003 she moved to Bountiful, Utah to be close to family where she has lived for the past five years. We will always remember her coming to our homes to visit, working hard to help in any way she could. Having never had any children of her own, the children of others brought great joy to her life. She touched the lives of all who knew her. She is survived by Maxine Stone, Stockton, CA., Edythe Bradley, Bountiful, Utah and Harold Yancey, Centerville, Utah. We wish to thank the staff of Welcome Home for their love and care of Evelyn. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main, where friends and family may call from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Fielding Memorial Park, Idaho Falls, Idaho. -
