Death of Howard Adams
Howard Adams, 68, of Little Rock, Ark., died at 12 o'clock Tuesday night at the home of his cousin, E. B. Hume, 70 Elizabeth street, after a week's illness with heart and kidney trouble. He had been in poor health all summer. Mr Adams was born in Worthington, January 3, 1845. He was educated at Williston academy and soon after returning to his native town, went West in 1872 and engaged in mercantile business, in partnership with his brother in Stewart, Ia. He remained there until 1884, when he moved to Grant, Kan., where he engaged in the real estate business until the time of his death. He was married in 1875 to Miss Caroline Baldwin of Hinsdale, who died a few years ago. He then married her sister, Miss Katherine Baldwin, in 1911, who survives, as does one sister, Mrs Elvia Randall of Hadley. When in Stewart, Ia., he helped to organize a church and was one of its charter members, both in that place and in Little Rock, and was always a faithful worker. He was treasurer of the church for over 40 years and up to the time of death was an elder in the Presbyterian church in Little Rock. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. J.H.Laird of Dalton will officiate and burial will be in the family lot in Hinsdale.
