Ret. Sheriff Thomas Pierson, formerly of Iroquois County, Illinois, died at his home February 16, 1891. Husband of Margaret, nee Fickle, the couple were wed in Marion County, Ohio in 1849. Service to Country, Union forces, Company B 136th OVI. In the early 1870s, the family relocated to Iroquois County, Illinois where Thomas planned to farm. In 1873 he was elected Sheriff, serving in the post until he was succeeded in that post by his son John T. Pierson in 1879. Following his exit from elected office, he went into the stock dealing business, which he pursued until his death. In addition to his wife, he left behind his children John T., Homer Amos, William, Margaret and Eva. Also survived by three grandchildren.
