David L. Rodkey one of Williamsburg's oldest citizens and veteran of the civil war died at his home on High Street Monday morning due to complications following a illness seven months ago. He lived a little past the octogenarian mark of time, born in Woodbury Township November 9, 1845 and followed farming the greater part of his life. He enlisted in Co. E. 104th Pennsylvania regiment under Captain Johnson and was honorable discharged at Portsmouth Va. on August 25, 1865. He was a Methodist of faith and a member of the Independent Order of Odd fellows for over fifty years. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter Mrs. Merlie Straitiff at home, three grand daughters, and two great grandchildren one brother Samuel Blair Rodkey of Atchison Kansas, and one sister Mrs. Ida Cook of Williamsburg,
Funeral service will be conducted at the home on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. L.G. Shannon and Rev. W.A. Graham internment in the Presbyterian cemetery.
