Actor. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he worked his way through school waiting tables while he attended St. Louis University. He earned a drama fellowship which allowed him to pursue a Master's Degree in Theater Arts from Indiana University in 1969. He joined the St Louis Loretto-Hilton Repertory Theater, followed by a stint with the Theatre Company of Boston. He then put in fifteen years with Peter Brook's International Theatre Company in Paris. He first appeared on American television in 1981 with a bit role in the daytime drama, 'Another World.' He followed this with a recurring role, Lucien Goff, in 'The Guiding Light.' In 1987, he was cast in feature film 'The Sicilian,' quickly followed by a role in 'Someone to Watch Over Me' (1987). More television followed, with recurring roles in 'Max Headroom,' and in 'Star Trek: The Next Generation,' and guest roles in such series as 'The Equalizer,' 'Houston Nights,' 'Crime Story,' 'Alien Nation,' 'Hunter,' and 'Murder, She Wrote,' as well as work in feature films such as 'Sunset' (1988), 'Next of Kin' (1989), 'Blame it on the Bellboy' (1992) and most significantly, as Sykes, the one armed man, in 'The Fugitive' (1993). He was cast in his signature role, the Narn ambassador, G'Kar, in the 1993 television series pilot 'Babylon 5:The Gathering.' The series was picked up and ran from 1994 to 1998, and was followed the television movie 'Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers: To Live and Die in Starlight' (2002). He made guest appearances in 'NYPD Blue,' and 'Star Trek: Enterprise,' before being diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2005. An habitual chain smoker, he succumbed to lung cancer just three months shy of his 60th birthday. His last performance was a voice role in the video game 'Splinter Cell: Double Agent' (2006). In December 2006, fans purchased an unused G'Kar face and headpiece prosthetic and donated it to the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, New York.
