Gennaro served as a Technical Sergeant on B-24G # 42-78167, 740th Bomb Squadron, 455th Bomb Group, 15th U.S. Army Air Forces, during World War II.

He enlisted November 19, 1942.

He was " Killed In Action " on mission over Austria when his plane was shot down and crashed near Kleinzell, Niederösterreich, Austria during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Six crew were killed, and four survived and were taken prisoner.
