Norma Jean married George Roland Tappy on 17 Sep 1950 at Bethalto Methodist Church in Bethalto. They were the parents of 2 children.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights, Illinois.

Norma Jean died at her home following a long illness. At the time of her death, she was 59 years, 2 months and 20 days old.

She was survived by her husband, George; her mother and father of Bethalto; 1 son of Wood River, Illinois; 1 daughter of Bethalto; 6 grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Janet Williams of Rosewood Heights, and Marilyn Langel of Greenville, Illinois.

Visitation was held at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights on 19 Mar 1990. Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. the following morning at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the church or to the American Cancer Society.

Norma Jean's husband, George, later remarried Joyce Gowin.
