Anna Eliza Baker, daughter of John Baker and Catherine Yoder, was the second wife of George P. Shuford. Her older sister Mary "Polly" had married George Dec. 3, 1831 in Lincoln Co., NC and died soon after having 2 children, Sidney and Sarah. After Anna Eliza and George were married they had 8 children: Kate, Martha, William, Isabelle, Alice, Lemuel, Alonzo C., and Robert Lee. Rev. Julius H. Shuford wrote that Anna Eliza was a woman of high Christian character. Rev. Gwaltney of the Baptist Church, and Rev. J. C Clapp of the Reformed church had charge of the funeral She was a granddaughter of Conrad Yoder, the father of the Yoder Family in NC.
