Funeral services for James Erwin Rice, 82, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 17, 2014, in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Danny Chance officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens (Calhoun, LA) under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
James Erwin Rice was born September 9, 1931, to the union of Irvin and Effie Rice and passed from this life on August 14, 2104.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Claude, Randall, Mae, Dorothy and Nita.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1952-1954. He was employed by Olinkraft-Manville for 35 years. He had a great love for his family, and his happiest times were spent with them. He lived a full and happy life, and he was loved and adored by his family. Because of him, Heaven is a more beautiful place.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Helen Jones Rice; son, James and wife Gail; daughter, Debbie Poe and husband Steve; grandchildren; David Poe, Christy Purvis and husband Randy, LaDonna Smith and husband Kenneth and Amy LyNell May; great-grandchildren; BriAnna Cooper and husband Sean, Aidan Purvis, Abigayle Purvis, and Emory Poe; brother, Travis Rice.
