Ada Lorraine Gibson, 95, made her journey to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on April 15, 2013. Ada was born in LaMoure, North Dakota on September 22, 1917 to Frank and Bertha E. (Steele) Walkenhauer. Her family moved to Montana when she was a young child and then to Washington State, settling in Ahtanum and attending Willow Lawn Elementary.
Ada married the love of her life, Virgil Eugene Gibson, on April 17, 1938; they were married for 63 years. She was a hard worker and was employed at several businesses in Yakima. She had a tremendous faith which she was able to instill in their six children.
Ada was preceded in death by her husband Virgil, sons Ronald and Roger, granddaughter Kelly, grandson Ricky, great granddaughter Sydney and great grandson Dylan as well as brothers Hank and Wendell and sisters Alice and Anita.
She is survived by daughters, twins Sandra McCaffrey (Bill), Janice Lindeman (Bob) and Jennie Bailey of Yakima, son Ralph Gibson of California, 27 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and a brother Jim Walkenhauer and sister Luella Walker.
Viewing will be offered Friday, April 19, 2013, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Shaw & Sons Funeral Directors, 201 N. 2nd Street, Yakima. The Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Ahtanum Pioneer Church. Condolences may be left for Ada’s family at www.shawandsons.net.
