William Augustus Bowen, 76, died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at his residence in DeBordieu Colony, South Carolina.
Mr. Bowen was born in Greenville, N. C. on January 17, 1930, the son of the late Joseph Francis Bowen and Dorothy Simmons Bowen. He was a graduate of Greenville High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Bowen was a former Regional Vice President of Wachovia Bank and Trust Co. in North Carolina and a former President of the First National Bank of Tulsa, Okla. He retired in 2004 as Vice-President of Finance and member of the Board of Directors of AAON, Inc. of Tulsa, Okla.

Mr. Bowen was a member and former Vestry member of Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church. He was also a former member, Vestry member, and Sr. Warden of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Tulsa, Okla.

Surviving are: his wife, Carolyn Rowlett Bowen of Georgetown; three daughters, Carol Bowen and her husband Alan Bernstein of New York, NY, Lee Bowen Jones and her husband, Dr. Lee Jones of Pawleys Island, SC, Jane Bowen Sullivan and her husband, Tim Sullivan of Park City, Utah; a son, William A. Bowen, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Bowen of Charlotte, NC; eight grandchildren, Benjamin Bernstein, Tripp and Anne Jones, Lindsey and Thomas Sullivan, and Casey, Gus, and Andrew Bowen.

Memorial services will be held at three o’clock Tuesday afternoon, June 20, 2006, at Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church in Georgetown. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul C. Fuener. Inurnment will follow in Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church Columbarium.
