Frances Joyce Erwin went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 24, 2014. She was born on December 28, 1930 in a log cabin in the rural Georgia mountains. Despite only having completed eighth grade, Joyce was prepared to take on the world. She married Max Erwin on September 10, 1949 in Calhoun, Georgia. Joyce faithfully followed Max to the United States Army and spent twenty years supporting him as an Army wife. While moving around the world, she gave birth to three daughters: Sharon, Carol and Susan. After Max’s retirement, they settled in Corpus Christi, Texas. Later in life, Joyce and Max adopted two grandchildren, Robert and Crystal, and raised them as their own. Joyce loved being a part of her church, Waldron Road Baptist Church, where she was a much-beloved figure. In her free time, she spent it with her friends, crocheting, and tending to every cat in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max. She is survived by her brother, Cye McPherson; her children, Sharon Eager, Carol Graham, Susan Davison, Robert Eager, and Crystal Meneeley. She is also survived by numerous well-loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren across the world.
Interment will follow service at Seaside Memorial Park.
