Berit Pedersdatter Bougan was born at Lille-Bougan in Alvdal, Hedmark Fylke, Norway. She emigrated April 11, 1890. Her parents and some siblings also emigrated to the same area in Wisconsin and one finds several relatives buried at the Glenwood City Cemetery.

Berit (aka Bertha / Bertie) married the widower, Simen Alveson Kaasen (from a farm close to the farm she grew up on in Norway) on January 22, 1898 in St. Croix County, Wisconsin. Simen had several small children from his first marriage to Kari, also buried at this cemetery. Kari was my g.g.grandmother Ingeborg's first cousin. Simen and Berit had five more children who we find with Simen in the 1920 US Census in Washington. Berit died when the twins were barely 1 year old.
Berit's parents lived in the immediate area and are also buried at the Glenwood City Cemetery.

We hope to learn more about Bertha and her life.
