Richard Stephen McGinley, 59, of Granby, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014, at his home.

Born in St. Albans, VT, son of the late Raymond and Ruth (Seavey) McGinley, he was raised in Old Town, Maine where he played football in both high school and for a year at the University of Maine. His entire professional career was in food service. He managed the AC Petersen Farm's Restaurants as well as Friendly's ; worked in sales for SYSCO Foods for several years and most recently at Viscomi's Deli in East Granby. He loved sports and served many years as a Granby Little League Umpire and later served as the Safety Director in CT's District 6. He loved to watch Red Sox Baseball and Giant's Football and attend UCONN football games. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a Civil War buff. Richard was a talented pianist playing both Rock and Classical music.

He leaves his companion and best friend of 26 years Annabel Dinse of Granby; a son Christopher Henderson of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters Jennifer Hallet of Bangor, ME and Kara McGinley of Brewer, ME; two brothers Paul of East Barre, VT and Kevin of Northfield, VT; three sisters Helen Ballard of Barre, VT, Rosemary Adams of FL, and Katie Schap of ME; seven grandchildren Zachary, Alex, Benjamin and Jack Henderson and Dylan and Lilith Hallet and Devin Smith; his companion's son Brian Dinse of Chattanooga, TN; and his beloved cats Pizza Pie, Tazmer, and Munson.

His family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014 from 6-8 pm at the Hayes Huling & Carmon Funeral Home 364 Salmon Brook St. Granby. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept 4, 2014, 11 am at the funeral home followed by burial in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield
