Actor. Born Richard Dawson Kiel in Detroit, Michigan, he worked as a nightclub bouncer and cemetery plot salesman before he began his acting career in 1960 with a bit part in "Klondike." At nearly 7-foot 2-inches, he was often cast in menacing roles throughout his 50 year career. These roles included television programs as "Barbary Coast" in 1975, "The Rifleman," "Lassie," "The Monkees," "I Spy," "It Takes a Thief," "Simon & Simon" and the classic "Twilight Zone" episode, "To Serve Man." His iconic role as 'Jaws' in the James Bond movies "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977) and "Moonraker" (1979) made him a minor cult figure. He would later lend his voice to a James Bond series of video games. He appeared in numerous additional feature films such as: "The Nutty Professor" (1963), "The Longest Yard" (1974), "Silver Streak" (1976), "Force 10 From Navarone" (1978), "Pale Rider" (1985), "Happy Gilmore" (1996), and as the voice of Vlad in the animated feature, "Tangled" (2010). In 2002, he published his autobiography entitled "Making It BIG in the Movies."
