Samuel Vaught Jr., 69, of Stanford, died at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Sam and Letha Edwards Vaught. He was the widower of Effie Lee Gilmer Vaught. He was retired from Corning Glass Works.

Survivors include: one daughter, Lynda Sue Elliott, Harrodsburg; two sons, John Gilmer Vaught, Hustonville and Michael Lee Vaught, Stanford; three sisters, Dorothy Brown, Alma Monday and Irene Bryant, all of Liberty; four brothers, Melvin and Eugene Vaught, both of Liberty, Icie Lee Vaught of Hustonville and Vallas Vaught of Yosemite; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl, Herman, B. D., Elvin and Arvin Vaught.

Funeral services were held at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, Liberty, with Rev. Greg Nimmo officiating. Burial was in Hustonville Cemetery.
