Martha Frances (Weatherspoon) Owens was born in 1842 in Hickman County, Tennessee, the daughter of Willis William Weatherspoon (ca 1791- ) and his wife Sarah "Sallie" (Beavers) Weatherspoon (ca 1788- ).
She was married to John Calvin Owens, who was born about 1836 in Humphreys County, Tennessee and died on November 1, 1886 in Hickman County.
Martha was 87 years old and a widow when she died of a combination of the flu and pneumonia on April 8, 1928 in Nashville. Burial was the next day in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Most of the above is from her Death Certificate, with J A Owens of Whites Creek as the informant.
Known children of Martha and John include:
~ Christopher Columbus Owens (1860–1915)
~ Sara Gertrude Owens (1861–1877)
~ John Albert Owens (1863–1939)
~ Jesse Rufin Owens (1865–1952)
~ James Dennis Owens (1867–1939)
~ William David Owens (1875–1956)
~ Willis Calvin Owens (1877–1963)
[1900 census = 7 children; 1(?) living]
[NOTE: Martha's son Christopher died on June 29, 1915 in Nashville and was buried in Crocker Springs Cemetery, but whether or not that is the small Crocker Cemetery listed on Find A Grave is unknown: That cemetery is, however, listed as being on Crocker Springs Road. Christopher was married on May 15, 1881 in Humphreys County to M Fannie Long, and they had children.]
