Ruben (Ruby) Kerr, 86, of Carmichaels, died unexpectedly at 1:54 p.m. Monday, April 3, 1995, in Greene County Memorial Hospital. He was born February 23, 1909, in Cumberland Township, a son of Charles and Laura Ruse Kerr. Mr. Kerr began working at Duquesne Light Co.'s Warwick Mine in 1941. He retired in 1974. He was a member of the UMWA Local 6310. He had been a member of the Carmichaels-Cumberland Township Volunteer Fire Company since October 1, 1937, where he was a dedicated bingo worker until the time of his death. Mr. Kerr also was a member of the Greene County Firemen's Association and Western Pennsylvania Fireman's Association. He lived in Carmichaels all his life. His first wife, Juanita O. Duffy Kerr, died March 14, 1974. On February 14, 1990,he married Mary Ann Zites Kerr, who survives. Surviving, in addition to his second wife, are three sons: Charles L. (Pat) Kerr of Wakeman, Ohio, William R. Kerr of Lorain, Ohio, and John H. Kerr of Kettle Falls, Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. Louise (Violet Jane) Busby of Claremore, Okla., Mrs. Daniel (Ruby Ann) Rapchak of Olmstead Falls, Ohio, and Mrs. Robert (Naomi Ruth) Clark of Spring Hill, Fla.; two stepsons, Anthony M. Zites of Carmichaels and John Zites of Vestaburg; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and four step-grandchildren. Deceased, in addition to his first wife, are one son, David H. Kerr and one daughter, Juanita Hall.
