Ann Carty was born to George and Elizabeth (Hueston) Carty at Aughyowla Ballinamore, Litrim, Ireland on 12 Apr 1845.

Ann came to the United States and took a job sometime after 1865 in Buffalo New York. At a place named Palmer Saw Mill, waiting on tables in the dinning room. In the fall of 1870, Ann came to Huron County, Michigan. For a visit with her brother William and youngest sister Elizabeth Carty.

William Carty and John Anderson had fought in the American Civil War in Company "D", Michigan 15th Vol. Inf. During this time William told John that his sister was very ugly and she had only one eye. This wasn't true at all, on the ship across the Atlantic she was voted the best looking lady on the ship.

Well, John and Ann were married on 26 Dec 1870, at Hume Township, Huron County, Michigan. That's right they only knew each other around two months max. They worked fast in them days.

Their marriage blessed them with seven children, and their names are:

Margaret Amelia b. 08 Oct 1871.

Jane Young b. 08 Jun 1873.

Elizabeth Carty b. 14 Aug 1875.

George Alexander b. 22 Jun 1877.

William Mina May (a girl) b. 01 Dec 1879.

Charles William b. 02 Nov 1881.

John Calvin b. 14 Dec 1884.

Unnamed, male, still born; born 11 June 1888 four days before Ann's death.

John, Ann's husband death was on 06 Feb 1909.
