This community was called upon to mourn the early death of one of its younger people when it became known that Leota, the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Chas Toelle had passed away at the University hospital at Omaha. She became ill last Wednesday and was taken to Omaha Thursday and late night she submitted to an operation for Bowel Obstruction. From the first the reports were discouraging but anxious friends here hoped hourly for better news. Her parents were with her throughout illness and those nearest and dearest to her remained within call. All that loving hearts and skilled hands could do was done, but to no avail and she passed away on Monday near midnight after five days of intense suffering, secure in her faith and expressing herself as happy that she was soon to be home.
Universal regret was expressed that a life so bright with the promise of a happy future, whose friendship was cherished by all her associates and whose love hallowed the home circle should be cut down on the very threshold of its work.

She leaves to mourn her early passing, besides her parents, her fiancee, Kenneth Vogel of West Point, two sisters, Iona and Rozella, and two brothers, Lowell and Duane, her maternam Grandmother, Mrs. Sophia Raasch and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Lutheran church, Reb GC Falsken preaching the words of comfort in German and Rev WJ Oetting of Madison, a friend and former pastor speaking in English. Preceeding the last sermon members of her confirmation class, Mrs RA Fried and the Misses Ardyce Karlen, Phillis Kitzerow, Lorena Dossow and Rhoda Iden sang Leota's favorite hymn, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." The profusion of flowers bore mute testimony to the love and respect in which the deceased was held, six girls, Faye Nellor, Roberta Baas, Gertrude Ludwig, Esperance McDonald, Iona and Evelina Wascher, carried the flowers, and Harry Ludwig, Leslie Jones, Harry Schulz, Harold Kitzerow, Frank and Harry Brown were pall bearers. Interment was made in the Beemer cemetery.
