George Siefer Sr, Died Early Saturday Morning at age of More Than 88 Years
George Siefer Sr, one of the early settlers of "The Ridge," northwest of Bremen, passed quietly away soon after midnight Saturday morning from the effects of a third stroke of paralysis which he suffered a week before. The funeral was held Tuesday, leaving the residence of Edward Siefer six miles northeast of town at 9:30 am and arriving at Immanuel's church at 11:30. After services there conducted by Rev Webbink the remains were given inter-meat in the Bremen cemetery. The funeral was very largely attended, many being unable to gain admission to the church.
George Siefer Sr was born in Alsace, Germany, Nov 3, 1823.
On Sept 2, 1853, he was married to Marie Conrad and together they came immediately to the United States.
For a year they lived in Jersey City and then came to this vicinity, locating soon on the farm on which both spent the remainder of their lives. For many years Mr. Siefer was engaged iu the timber business, later taking up farming. All of his long life he was recognized as an honorable, upright, industrious man, a good neighbor and a good citizen.

Surviving him are six children: Mrs Mary Grose, Mrs Klinkner, John and Edward Siefer of Union township, St Joseph county; George Siefer of Bremen and William Siefer of South Bend; sixteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one brother, Henry Siefer of Oakland, Cal.
